CLINTON HILL DUPLEX TOWNHOUSE
This duplex townhome transformed from a choked, impractical layout with an oversized bathroom that jutted out into the kitchen, to an airy and bright space offering a clear sightline to the back windows.
Opening up the layout created a full dining area, even with an expanded kitchen. On the second floor, the large dead space in the hallway was redesigned into a kids’ library and a bathroom with a washer and dryer.

office, living, dining, and kitchen all flow seamlessly one after another in a bright, open space that utilizes the full width.
a shallow, built-in storage for dinnerware that nearly disappears into the wall is sensibly located between the dining area and kitchen.
bleached ash paneling creates a soft, warm, and natural ambiance in this bright, wraparound kitchen.
this new bathroom features a matching oak vanity, green zellige floor tiles, and warm terracotta grouting.
the second-floor kids’ library features a portal entryway into the bathroom, adding whimsy without sacrificing sophistication.
smaller but bolder, the downstairs bathroom is now an efficient use of space, with a door that opens to the foyer rather than the kitchen.
